Causes of Bleeding Gastric Ulcer
Helicobacter pylori infection: This is a very common bacterial infection and may cause an ulcer.
Long-term use of NSAIDs: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can inflame the stomach lining.
Excessive alcohol intake: Can irritate the lining of the stomach and increase acid production.
Smoking: Impairs healing and increases acid secretion.
Stress: May worsen an ulcer, but is not considered a direct cause.
Underlying medical conditions: These include liver disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
