Toward Equity: The Critical Role of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives More recently, D&I initiatives have been part of organizational culture. Companies are now slowly realizing the value that lies in diverse perspectives and backgrounds toward driving innovation and business success. Inclusive environments partly arise through policies that guarantee equity, representation, and a sense of belonging. There is an increasing number of training programs on unconscious bias awareness and cultural competence. Challenges persist, such as how to measure the impact of D&I efforts and systemic barriers within an organization. As the conversation continues, companies are establishing ways in which to hold themselves accountable for making real progress toward a diverse and inclusive workplace.
